Information passed from one person to or from a competitor during a round. It can be from one competitor to another competitor. It can be from the Captain of a Ryder Cup team to one of the team members.
Contrary to popular belief, the exchange of advice is not 100% prohibited by The Rules of Golf. But most advice is.
For example, you are permitted to ask your competitor or playing partner if the 100-yard marker is accurate. But you are not permitted to ask your competitor how far you are from the green.
In general, suggestions as to how to play a shot in competition should not be solicited from anyone other than your caddie.
